University of Michigan Human Factors Engineering and HCI Short Course
Monday July 29th to Friday August 9th, 2002
http://www.umich.edu/~driving/shortcourse/index.html

Highlights

* interaction with leaders in the field
* extensive, in-depth instructional content (1 or 2 weeks, most days start
at 8:30 am, and with lunch and dinner breaks, end at 10pm; 1/2 day on
Saturday of week 1).
* extensive notes (2 volumes, about 1300 pages)
* proven, established, flagship course in the profession (year 43)

Cost

1 week $2000 (for 5-1/2 days of instruction or $363/day)
2 weeks $3500 (for 10 days of instruction or $350/day)

Human Factors Concepts (Week 1) is a broad survey of human factors topics
important to designers and researchers. Human Computer Interaction (Week
2) presents an overview of major topics and issues in human-computer
interaction together with mini-workshops and seminars on selected
principles, methods, and procedures that provide the foundation for design
of effective human-computer systems. Most students register to attend
both weeks, but you can register for a single week only.

The course provides far more depth and breath than the one or two day
short courses commonly offered. Attendees range from those with some
human factors or usability responsibilities seeking to expand their
knowledge, to full time human factors professionals early in their
careers, to seasoned human factors seeking to update their knowledge.
