eRIS 2015 - engineering Real-Time Interactive Systems
Tutorial at the IEEE Virtual Reality 2015

eRIS is a one day tutorial about the art of engineering real-time 
interactive systems (RIS). The course provides state-of-the-art 
conceptual and technical solutions for building highly interactive 
software systems typical for Virtual, Augmented, Mixed Reality, computer 
games, and perceptual computing.

Organization

Date: 23rd of March, 2015
Duration: Full day in 4 parts of approx. 90 minutes
Place: To be announced at the IEEE VR 2015 schedule
Attendance fee: Free (if registered for workshops/tutorials)
Conjunction: 8th SEARIS workshop, March 24th, 2015
Registration: It would be helpful if potential attendees would send a 
registration e-mail
no later than March 17th for organizational purposes.

Value

After the course, the audience will have a solid understanding of the 
boundary conditions defined by both, the physiological and psychological 
characteristics of the human users as well as by the architectures and 
technological characteristics of today’s real-time interactive systems. 
Participants will gain a solid understanding about what they can expect 
from today’s technological solutions. They will be able to choose 
appropriate approaches and tools to solve a given engineering task in 
the RIS area and they will have a well-founded basis enabling them to 
develop alternative solutions for future systems.

Target Group

Several conceptual discussions will be accessible to novices as well as 
to advanced practitioners of the field. Some concrete examples and 
references to existing and novel approaches will be most useful for an 
advanced audience at least at a graduate or post-doc level with an 
intermediate or solid experience in engineering VR, AR, MR, or computer 
games. The tutorial is an ideal preparation for, and complement of, the 
following 8th SEARIS workshop taking place March 24th at the IEEE VR 
2015 conference.
