The Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) journal is publishing a special issue
titled "New Agendas for Human-Computer Interaction", edited by Wendy
Kellogg, Clayton Lewis, and Peter Polson (the contents are listed below).
This special issue was created in cooperation with the ACM TOCHI journal,
which is publishing a similar special issue. Together these special issues
reflect on where our field is going in the new millenium.

HCI is working on two special issues for next year, one on "Context-Aware
Computing", edited by Tom Moran and Paul Dourish, and one on "Text Entry
for Mobile Computing", edited by Scott MacKenzie.

HCI welcomes regular paper submissions. It generally favors more extensive
papers, giving researchers the opportunity to report on research programs
in a more thorough and integrative way than is possible in conference
publications. Publication in HCI is now in both web and paper media, and it
offers the ability to publish supplementary materials online along with

HCI aims to be innovative not only in the content it publishes, but also in
the style and format of reporting research results, issues, perspectives,
and approaches. This seems especially important for emerging areas of
research, where formulating new conceptions is often more significant than
rigorously adhering to existing frameworks. We attempt to creatively use
special issues, where we consider the issue as a whole rather than as a
collection of stand-alone pieces, thus allowing, for example, the use of
commentary and essays. The Editor welcomes proposals for new special issues.
