NordiCHI 2016 Call for Student Volunteers

The organising committee of NordiCHI 2016 is looking for student volunteers to help make the conference an enjoyable experience. We encourage applications from all students who want to be active members of the NordiCHI community and are eager to explore the wonderful city of Gothenburg.

***************
Important Dates
***************
January 25, 2016: Student volunteer lottery registration system is open at: http://chisv.org/nordichi2016/news
July 7, 2016: Deadline for enrollment in the CHISV system
July 10, 2016: Results of the SV lottery announced
**************************************************

The success of the SV programme is essential to the success of the NordiCHI conference. In return for their help during the conference, student volunteers receive a number of benefits:
* Free full conference registration & a reception ticket
*    A unique NordiCHI 2016 SV t-shirt
*    A fabulous SV party
In return, we ask that you commit to 20 hours of work during the conference, arrive at the conference in due time and attend mandatory orientation.

While the volunteer duties are not always glamorous, they do provide a unique opportunity to closely interact with NordiCHI contributors, attendees, and other student volunteers. Volunteering provides a way for students in various stages of their research career to become part of the Nordic CHI community.
Students often report that the connections they make while volunteering are the greatest benefit of SVing. Indeed, it is not uncommon for future collaborations, internships/jobs, and friendships to be made through the SV experience.

Potential SVs must have student status (on any level) when enrolling. All students, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply. Volunteers will need good communication skills in English. Fluency in the Scandinavian languages can come in handy but is not a necessity. We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable and friendly people, both experienced SVs and those new to volunteering.

Student volunteers will be chosen from applications received by July 7, 2016.
Those volunteers initially selected will be notified on July 10, 2016 so that they can begin making any necessary arrangements and get involved in the online student volunteer community. The waiting list will consist of applications received by the deadline but not initially selected. Applications received after the deadline will be placed at the end of the waiting list according to the order in which they are received.
Historically, more students apply than can be accepted, so application by July 7 is encouraged. However, applicants on the waiting list are often accepted, so do not be discouraged from applying after the preliminary deadline. Usually, some volunteers are eventually unable to travel, so students on the waiting list do get a chance of acceptance.
