AVI 2014 – International Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces
May 27-30, 2014 - Como, Italy http://avi2014.deib.polimi.it

 ===============================================================================
2nd CALL FOR DEMOS, POSTERS, AND INDUSTRIAL PRESENTATIONS
 ===============================================================================

AVI 2014 (the 12th International Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces) is
inviting submissions of posters, demos, and industrial presentations.

AVI 2014 will be held in Como (Italy) at the campus of Politecnico di Milano,
from May 27th to 30th, 2014. Started in 1992 in Rome, AVI has become a biannual
appointment for a wide International community of experts with a broad range of
backgrounds, who share the interest in the investigation, design, development,
and evaluation of innovative interactive solutions impacting our world at
individual and societal level. Through more than two decades, the Conference has
contributed to the progress of Human-Computer Interaction, offering a forum to
present and disseminate new technological results, new paradigms and new visions
for interaction and interfaces. AVI 2014 offers a wide variety of submission
types to suit many types of interests and works. They include full and short
research papers, posters, demos, industry presentations, and workshops.
Theoretical and formal approaches, novel methodologies, domain-specific
applications, empirical studies, new technological solutions, and industrial
achievements fit well into the framework of the conference. The program also
includes a number of prestigious invited talks as well social events at a
magnificent villa on the Como lake.

SUBMISSION DETAILS
 ===============================================================================
All submission must be formatted according to the ACM SIGCHI format

on EasyChair: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=avi2014

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- POSTERS

The AVI 2014 Poster Track provides researchers and practitioners
with the opportunity for presenting their work-in -progress,
obtaining precious feedback from their peers, in an informal setting. The
poster session provides conference attendees the chance of being aware of
novel and on-going research projects, whose preliminary results are
already interesting.

Poster submissions must be up to 2 pages (not anonymized). Accepted poster
papers will appear in the conference proceedings and will be published in
ACM Digital Library. Poster authors are required to register for the conference
and to bring a poster to be displayed in a dedicated poster area; they are also
required to attend the dedicated poster session (see preliminary program)
and to present their work there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- DEMOS

A “Demo” for AVI2014 is something that can be shown in order
to demonstrate a completed or on-going research effort. We are
looking for (prototypical or full) implementations of novel and interesting
concepts or systems related to the main topics of AVI. Demonstrations will be
presented in a dedicated session (in parallel with the poster session).
Demonstrators are required to bring their own equipment (since organizers will
only provide a desk and standard electrical connection).

Demo proposals (not anonymized) must include a description of the demo (up to
2 pages) and a separate page shortly describing the equipment used and the
space requirements or other special requirements (if any). Accepted demo
presentations will be included in the Adjunct Proceedings of the Conference.
Demo presenters authors are required to register for the conference and to
bring the necessary equipment; they are also required to attend the dedicated
demo session (see preliminary program) and to present their demo there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- INDUSTRY PRESENTATIONS

The industrial track represents an opportunity for companies to
present their late works (as short presentations, posters or
interactive demos) and to receive valuable feedback from the research
community. It also provides an opportunity for recruitment and
networking.

Submissions consist of 1-2 pages expression of interest. The following is
the suggested content: a short presentation of the company and a
description of the contribution (talk, poster, or demo) highlighting its
relevance for the AVI community. Proposals for the industry track will not be
peer-reviewed but their relevance will be judged by a jury of experts.
Accepted industry presentations will be included in the Adjunct Proceedings.
