------------------------ CALL FOR PARTICIPATION -----------------------

                         NordiCHI 2016 Workshop on

Interactive Surfaces for Collaborative Software Design

                    24 October 2016, Gothenburg, Sweden

------------ http://t2i.se/workshops/interactive_surfaces/ ------------

Large drawing boards have long been software engineers' tools of choice
for collaborative software design. Recently, traditional design tools
such as whiteboards and flip charts are being replaced by large
interactive surfaces such as touch-sensitive wall-mounted displays or
interactive tabletops.

This workshop explores the novel opportunities that these interactive
modeling tools offer for collaborative software engineering, as well as
the technical and cognitive challenges that they introduce.

Given the novelty of the interaction techniques on large digital
surfaces (touches, gestures, speech etc.), facilitating their intuitive
and effective use as software design tools involves not just the
software engineering and human-computer interaction disciplines, but
also relies on contributions from fields such as pattern recognition,
machine learning and artificial intelligence.

The workshop aims to bring together academics and practitioners in these
fields - including software engineers in the role of prospective users
of interactive surfaces, and in the role of creators of surface-based
design tools - to discuss how interactive surfaces can be used
effectively as design tools in the software development process.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Collaboration and design requirements of different roles/stakeholders
in the software development process
- Employing interactive surfaces in different phases of the software
development process
- Collocated collaborative software design on interactive surfaces
- Synchronous and asynchronous distributed software design on
interactive surfaces
- Visualizing software engineering artifacts on interactive surfaces
- Manipulating software artifacts on interactive surfaces ("interaction
in the small")
- Performing software design tasks using interactive surfaces
("interaction in the large")
- Bridging the gap between physical and digital software engineering
artifacts (documents, models, code, user feedback, etc.)

Workshop participants are asked to submit a position paper of two pages
in SIGCHI format at http://t2i.se/workshops/interactive_surfaces/.
Submitted papers will be evaluated on the basis of their relevance to
the workshop and potential to stimulate discussion. At least one author
of each accepted submission must register for the workshop at
http://www.nordichi2016.org/attending/registration/.

Important dates:
- Sep 11, 2016: Paper submission (extended)
- Sep 13, 2016: Acceptance notification (extended)
- Sep 16, 2016: Camera-ready submission (extended)
- Sep 16, 2016: Early registration
- Oct 24, 2016: Workshop at NordiCHI 2016
