Special issue invitation: Acquisition perspectives on
ergonomy and usability of information technology
-----
We hereby invite original research articles to a special issue on
“Acquisition perspectives on ergonomy and usability of information
technology” for the International Journal Ergonomics published by Taylor and
Francis.
Special issue Abstract
--------------------------
The tradition for achieving usable and ergonomic information technology
prescribe that User Centred Design and Ergonomic Design mainly are
activities performed by system developers, and the responsibility of system
developers. For several decades this assumption has driven user centred
design towards stability and institutionalization. An arena for utilisation
of user centred design and ergonomic design has thus been defined. By
letting go of this assumption, new arenas for the knowledge and methods
produced within research on ergonomics of information technology and
user-centred design can be explored.
This special issue of Ergonomics will focus on the arena defined by procurer
organizations, acquisition processes and buyers of information technology
and systems development. The goal is to compose an issue of highest
international standard reviewing the state of the art as well as the
research frontier of ergonomics and user centred design within this arena,
and also defining some of the issues ahead within a roadmap of research and
development.
