In response to requests, we have extended the deadline until Midnight PST on Monday 1st June 2015

Call for Interactive Artworks
=====================

The 23rd ACM International Conference on Multimedia Brisbane, Australia | October 2015

ACM Multimedia 2015 will host the 12th edition of the Interactive Arts Program.

We welcome original works and papers from practitioners and researchers developing innovative approaches in creating interactive art works using computational media, modalities and/or technologies. We seek works that provoke contemplation, address contemporary issues, and interactively engage viewers in discovery and stimulate intellectual adventure. We welcome two categories of artwork: previously developed installations that rely on physical and computational media and/or multimodal technologies, and original creations exploring new concepts and ideas. All artworks are expected to feature significant physical and digital media components or multimodal interfaces. Selection for the exhibition will be based primarily on artistic merit and the potential to engage the conference audience. Digital art installations may include augmented or mixed-reality art, game-based art, enhanced performances, sound-based installations, tangible interfaces, and those featuring mobile and social media.

The exhibition will run throughout the conference with an additional event open to the general public to maximise exposure of the artworks.

Application Procedure

Applications should include a 4-page description of the artistic brief as well as the technical elements of the installation, following the ACM Multimedia format for short papers. Papers need not be anonymous and can be submitted at https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/acmmm2015. Supplementary material (audio, video, exhibitions leaflets and brochures) should be provided through a web link when available. Artworks that have not been previously on display are expected to be at an advanced stage of completion by the submission date. Applicants are required to submit a video of the work. Enquiries or requests for clarification should be directed to the Interactive Art Exhibit Chairs.

! A video document, no longer than 5 minutes and playable in VLC 1.1.12 or higher. As the online submission system restricts the size of the supplementary file to 10MB, print the URL to the movie file in the beginning of the paper/description if the authors plan to submit a video that does not fit in the 10MB upload restriction.

Selection of artworks will be carried out by the Interactive Art Exhibit Chairs assisted by local organisers and members of the programme committee. Criteria for selection will include:

	• Originality of the artistic concept, aesthetic and/or critical quality

	• Interactivity and/or richness of the media content

	• Robustness and transportability of the installation

	• Relevance to ACM Multimedia in terms of content and technologies deployed

Papers to be submitted to: https://cmt.research.microsoft.com/acmmm2015
