Call for Applications - NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE MDM 2016 (US-based Students ONLY)

The 17th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Data Management (MDM 2016) to be held in Porto, Portugal on June 13-16, 2016 is pleased to announce competitive travel grants to attend IEEE MDM 2016 (http://mdmconferences.org/mdm2016/) Conference and co-located events (Workshops, etc.).

Funds for this travel support have been provided by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) – www.nsf.gov. This funding is available only for full time students attending US colleges and universities. Underrepresented minority and women students from diverse US institutions are particularly encouraged to apply. Although student authors may be given priority for travel awards, this is not a requirement. Exceptional undergraduate research students (e.g., NSF REU students) and young post-doctoral researchers may also be considered for support on a case-by-case basis. To be eligible, US based students (referred to as “you”) must apply no later than Friday, April 15, 2016.

To apply for travel support, please do the following:

1. Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:
a. You are currently a research student in good standing and working in areas related to mobile data management (see http://mdmconferences.org/mdm2016/).
b. You will be attending the entire IEEE MDM conference and associated events.
c. The remainder of your travel support will be covered by other means (indicate how).

2. Write a personal statement describing your research interests, how you wish to benefit from attending MDM 2016. Indicate your student status and location you will be traveling from.

3. Create a single pdf file containing the above documents, along with your two-page CV and email it to [log in to unmask] with this subject “MDM 2016 NSF supported travel grant for US students”.

Please note that IEEE MDM conference may not be able to reimburse for all of your travel expenses due to limited budget. Eligible expenses for reimbursement include advance student registration, hotel, and transportation (flight, bus or train). Expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement include regular and/or on-site registration, taxi and meals. Student travel grants are available in the form of reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference and receipt of all required documentation and receipts. The reimbursement amount (expected $500-1000) will be based on the number of awards made and distance traveled.

Important Dates:
April 15, 2016, Complete Travel Grant Application Deadline (via email)
May 15, 2016, NSF Travel Award Decisions Made
June 13-16, 2016 MDM'16 Conference
