Call for Papers: EVIS - 3rd Workshop on Electric Vehicle Information Systems

AutomotiveUI 2014
Seattle, WA, USA # September 17, 2014
Submissions due: August 10th, 2014

The effort to push the electric vehicle development worldwide is continuously rising. Production sites for electric vehicle components are build, billions are invested to create new battery electric vehicle concepts (BEV) and new players are entering the market. The information systems of electric vehicles (EVIS) need to cope with a variety of new features that are related to changes of vehicle components and driving behavior, but also with changes and new systems that are silently introduced into the vehicles. Sustainability, mobility concepts and smart mobility are just a few points out of many that can be attributed to the “silent” category. With this workshop, we continue to bring together researchers, designers and practitioners to explore the related field and generate a state of the art perspective on EVIS.

The characteristics of electric vehicles are manifold and affect a wide range of different topics. To understand the requirements and needs of EV drivers, the following topics require special attention in the design and development process:

- Sustainability
- Driving Behaviour
- Sound
- Range Prediction
- Energy Management
- E-Mobility Concepts
- Interior Design
- Needs of EV Drivers
- Interaction Techniques
- Multidisciplinary Development

The following submissions are invited:

- Case Studies of Industrial Projects
- Case Studies of Scientific Projects
- Ideas and Design Sketches
- Future Trends and Prototypes
- EVIS and Interior Design
- Interaction Techniques and Interfaces
- Social and Cultural Aspects of Interaction Design
- Design Processes and Methods
- Engineering Solution and Process Analysis

Please submit one of the following (1 or 2) by August 10th, 2014 to
[log in to unmask]:

(1) A position paper in the the SIGCHI Extended Abstract Format with a length of two to four pages that describes a key concern regarding the defined area of interest.

(2)An URL linking to a digital documentation of a novel system, application or service that gives a particular view on EVIS. This should be accompanied by a descriptive paper with a maximum length of two pages in the SIGCHI Extended Abstract Format.
