CALL FOR WORKSHOP PAPERS

Evolving Pervasive Health Research: The Next 10 Years
A Workshop of Pervasive Health Conference
Cancun, Mexico, May 16th, 2016
http://futureofpervasivehealth.org/

OVERVIEW

Pervasive Health is a field started in the late 90’s with the promise of integrating innovative health and wellbeing services into the every day life through the use of pervasive computing and communications technologies. After several years of research and development, we have seen an evolution of the field to a point in which the adoption of ubiquitous computing devices and software is actually starting to be used by patients in coordination with their carers and clinical professionals. Today outcomes in Pervasive Health have reached a maturity level in which the development of (rudimentary) prototypes built-up from early technologies that were often obtrusive and limited in usability were tested mostly only under lab conditions to a scenario in which the evolution of this field is running together with the rapid advancements of technology and the growing interests of defining regulatory frameworks enabling a leap in quality and increasing opportunities of embedding innovative Pervasive Health solutions into our daily life. Moreover, validation of Pervasive Health solutions is moving out of the lab to the real environments and sustained on clinical trials for proving their relevance to management and treatment of specific diseases.

The objective of this workshop is to discuss where we are today on Pervasive Health Research and from this position, define a roadmap for future research topics on this field.

WORKSHOP TOPICS:
The Workshop aims to provide answer to fundamental questions on this area such as where the Pervasive Health field is moving? What is the relevant research for the future? Will it be connected only to technology or are there other fundamental aspects to bring into? Which are the priorities for new directions of research?

The workshop will receive 4-6 pages position papers (no specific research studies/developments papers) focusing on visions of the future of Pervasive Health Research considering contributions on (not limited to) the following topics:
- Future Technologies for Pervasive Health
- Emerging trends on users research for Pervasive Health
- Evaluation of new Pervasive Health developments
- Integration into clinical practice
- Regulatory aspects of Pervasive Health
- Privacy, Security and Ethics
- Distinction/Implications between health and wellbeing applications
- Economic trends and sustainability of Pervasive Health solutions
- Futuristic scenarios of Pervasive Health
