17TH IEEE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MOBILE DATA MANAGEMENT
13 - 16 JUNE, 2016 / PORTO, PORTUGAL
http://mdmconferences.org/mdm2016/index.html

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Mobile Data Management series of conferences first debuted in December
1999. Since inception, it has established itself as a prestigious forum to
exchange innovative and significant research results in mobile data
management. Comprising both research and industry tracks, it serves as an
important bridge between academic researchers and industry researchers.
Along with the presentations of research publications, it also serves as a
meeting place for technical demonstrations (Demos), workshops, advanced
seminars, panel discussions as well as PhD forum and Industrial forum to
cater PhD students and industrial developers.

The scope of the conference has continuously broadened to cover all aspects
of mobility, including wireless communications, portable and tiny devices,
and geo-location of users and data, and emerging areas like internet of
things and cyber-physical systems.

MDM, from 2011, has been an IEEE Computer Society conference, sponsored by
the Technical Committee on Data Engineering (TCDE).

Porto is Portugal's second largest city and is the capital of Northern
region. Lightly populated at around 300, 000 dwellers, the city is built
along the hills overlooking the Douro river estuary and it is one of the
UNESCO's World Heritage. The city is varied architecturally with a mix of
medieval and modern buildings co-existing side-by-side.

MDM 2016 features a strong technical program following a highly rigorous
and competitive selection process that includes 20 regular and 15 short
research papers, 4 industrial papers, and 12 demos. In addition, the
program has 3 keynote lectures, 3 advanced seminars and a panel discussion
on “Advanced Query Answering Techniques over Big Mobile Data”. There are
also two one-day workshops and a half-day PhD forum.

The exciting MDM 2016 Keynotes:

• Developing and Deploying Mobile Sensing Applications in the Wild
Presented by Cecilia Mascolo, University of Cambridge, UK

• How to Turn Data into a Smart Solution: Smart Cities Use Case Presented
by Susana Sargento, University of Aveiro, Portugal

• LiveLabs: Building Real-World Testbeds for Mobile Sensing, Analytics, and
Intervention Experiments Presented by Rajesh Balan, Singapore Management
University, Singapore

The Advanced Seminars at MDM 2016 are:

• Geometric Aspects and Auxiliary Features to Top-k Processing by Kyriakos
Mouratidis, Singapore Management University, Singapore
• Compression of Spatio-Temporal Data by Goce Trajcevski, Northwestern
University, USA
• Mobile Computing, Internet of Things, and Big Data for Urban Informatics
by Anirban Mondal, Xerox, India, Praveen Rao, Univ. of Kansas – Missouri
City, USA and Sanjay Madria, Missouri University of Science and
