*Full description*
Two PhD Research Fellowships (SKO 1017) in Music Technology and/or Music
Production are now available at the Department of Musicology, University
of Oslo (IMV).
The Department of Musicology has established a vibrant and leading
international research profile in popular music studies and cognitive
musicology, with particular strengths in audiovisual analysis, musical
sound/rhythm analysis, musical embodiment, and interactive music
technologies.
Applications are invited from candidates interested in contributing to
this rich, interdisciplinary field, where the research focus falls on
music technology and/or music production. The successful candidates will
be expected to make use of qualitative/descriptive and
quantitative/technology-assisted methods. Furthermore, it is expected
that they utilise the department's world-class studio/lab facilities in
their projects, which include a ProTools recording studio, a 5.1 mixing
suite, and a motion capture lab with a 60-channel sound diffusion system

The persons appointed will be affiliated with the Faculty's organized
research training. The academic work is to result in a doctoral thesis
that will be defended at the Faculty with a view to obtaining the degree
of PhD. The successful candidate is expected to join the existing
research milieu or network and contribute to its developement. Read more

The appointment is for a duration of three years.
*Qualifications*
A Master's Degree in music technology, music production, musicology,
or similar. In case of the latter two, the applicant must documentthat
the degree matches the profile for the post. The Master's Degree has to
have been achieved by the time of application.
Personal suitability and motivation for the position.
In assessing the applications, special emphasis will be placed on:
* The applicant's estimated academic and personal ability to complete
the project within the time frame
* The applicant's ability to complete research training
* Good collaboration skills and an ability to join interdisciplinary
academic communities
* The project's scientific merit, research-related relevance and
innovation
Applicants who have recently graduated with excellent results may be
given preference.
