The GeoGazeLab at the Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation is offering a

      PhD position on Gaze-Based Interaction with Maps

The PhD project on "Intention-Aware Gaze-Based Assistance on Maps" (IGAMaps), funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, targets gaze-based interaction with maps based on the recognition of map users' activities and intentions.

The ideal candidate must have a Master or Diploma degree in Computer Science / Geomatics / Geoinformatics or related fields, as well as a strong research interest in human-computer interaction. Knowledge of methods in machine learning, probabilistic and semantic modeling, inferential statistics, as well as strong programming skills (e.g., Java or C++) are required. Background or experience in eye tracking, cartography, geographic information science, or related topics is a significant plus. The candidate must have excellent communication skills in English (oral and writing), be team-oriented and willing to work in an international environment.
