We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join us for two years to lead the
development and evaluation of educational software for widespread use in
teaching design. The postdoctoral fellow will work with researchers and
educators at Harvard University and University College Dublin (UCD) in
Ireland to develop web-based tools for use in project-based engineering
design classes. The candidate will be responsible for developing and
evaluating systems for collecting, processing, and reporting data from
large numbers of students. Multimodal data analysis and visualization are
among the challenges to be addressed. The candidate will have the
opportunity to spend extended periods of time at Harvard and UCD and pilot
tools in educational contexts at both locations.

Areas of interest include human-computer interaction, the psychological
processes involved in design, and applications of learning theories.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in human-computer interaction, data
visualization, psychology, education, or a related field, and have
experience in developing web-based tools. The fellow will work closely with
Professors Conor Walsh (Engineering), Krzysztof Gajos (Computer Science),
and Dónal Holland (Engineering). The project is funded by the National
Science Foundation. The position is available immediately.

Applications, assembled as a single PDF file, should contain a complete
resume, cover letter describing research interests and goals, full list of
publications, copies of up to three relevant scientific papers, as well as
the names and contact information of three references (expected to provide
letters of recommendation). A portfolio showcasing previous web-based
projects is highly desirable.

Applications should be sent to Dónal Holland, [log in to unmask]
