Final Call for Papers

The uxTV 2008 conference will bring together researchers and designers of interactive user experiences for TV and Video to learn and share in an academic conference. The Silicon Valley is home to top companies in new video and television technologies. Outstanding papers, demos and invited speakers will make uxTV 2008 the premier conference for designers and researchers in this field.

 *   Jakob Nielsen, Nielsen Norman Group - The "guru of web page usability" talks about television and the Internet.
 *   Elissa Lee, TiVo - Sr. Director, Research and ARM Product Management talks about TiVo user experience.
 *   Gunthar Hartwig, YouTube - Sr. UX Designer Interactive TV and Multimedia, talks about YouTube user experience.
 *   Dale Herigstad, Schematic - Chief Creative Officer, talks about interactive television.

Submissions

The following types of submissions are invited:

 *   Long papers: Long papers of up to 10 pages on substantial research results. Accepted papers will be published in ACM digital library.
 *   Short papers/posters: Short papers of up to 4 pages describing late-breaking findings, work-in-progress and burning-issues. Accepted short papers will published on the conference website. Accepted short papers must have a corresponding poster to be displayed at the conference.
 *   Doctoral Consortium proposals: The Doctoral Consortium provides PhD students with a forum for expressing their research interests, comparing approaches with others and exploring ideas for the future of television. The consortium provides an excellent opportunity to share ideas, to connect with peers and to receive supportive feedback from members of the television community.
 *   Demo proposals: We are interested in demonstrations of TV/Video related products, prototypes or concept illustrations (in interactive form preferred).
 *   Workshops: The following workshops are inviting position papers:

    *   Workshop on Personalised TV Experiences and Authentication Methods
    *   Workshop on Social Television and Video Applications: Case Studies, Research Methods, and Future Outlook
