SECOND CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
ACI is the main international conference on Animal-Computer Interaction, a rapidly growing field that focuses on the interaction between animals and computing-enabled technology. At the crossroad between interaction design, on the one hand, and animal behavioural and welfare science, on the other, the emerging discipline of ACI focuses on:
* studying and theorizing the interaction between animals and technology in naturalistic settings
* developing user-centered technology to improve animals’ welfare, support animals' activities and foster interspecies relationships
* informing animal-centered approaches that enable animals to participate in the design process as stakeholders and contributors.
This year's conference theme is improving relations<http://www.aci2017.org/call_for_contributions.php>. We invite ACI-related contributions from any relevant disciplines, but we particularly welcome contributions that focus on the improvement of human-animal relations or relations between other animals. These may include (but are not limited to):
* support interspecies communication
* improve humans’ understanding of other animals and their needs
* enable humans to take better care of other animals
* support animals in activities they do for humans
* reduce interspecies conflicts and the impact of human activity on animals
* foster ecologically and ethically sustainable forms of interspecies interaction and cohabitation.
We invite the submission of:
* long and short papers<http://www.aci2017.org/papers.php> (submission deadline 10th July, midnight PST)
* workshop proposals<http://www.aci2017.org/workshops.php> (submission deadline 30th June, midnight PST)
* doctoral consortium ap<http://www.aci2017.org/consortium.php>plications<http://www.aci2017.org/consortium.php> (submission deadline 1st September, midnight PST)
* video posters and demos<http://www.aci2017.org/video_posters.php> (submission deadline 1st September, midnight PST)
ACI2017 is in cooperation with ACM<https://www.acm.org/> (Association for Computing Machinery) and SIGCHI<http://www.sigchi.org/> (Special Interest Group on Computer Human Interaction), and the conference proceedings will be published in the ACM Digital Library<http://dl.acm.org>. ACI2017 is a partner event to MAC4<http://www.mindinganimals.com/conferences/mac4-ciudad-de-mexico-mexico/>, the conference of Minding Animals International<http://www.mindinganimals.com/>.
