FINAL REMINDER: ECSCW 2017: CALL FOR STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

https://ecscw2017.org.uk/student-volunteers/

ECSCW 2017 is the 15th European Computer-Supported Cooperative Work conference, taking place in Sheffield (UK) from the 28th of August to the 1st of September 2017.

We are seeking applications from students who are willing to volunteer at ECSCW 2017. Volunteers will assist with different aspects of the running of the conference e.g. helping out with registration, guiding guests between sessions, setting up demos, providing assistance to workshops, etc. Volunteering for ECSCW 2017 is a great opportunity for junior researchers: you will be involved in the inner workings of an international conference as well as being able to network with senior and junior members of the international community.

Applicants who will be accepted as Student Volunteers will attend the conference free of charge in return for their efforts. They will partake in the whole conference, including social events.

Student Volunteers will need to be available from Monday 28th August to Friday 1st September inclusive. Throughout these five days you will have up to 20 hours of work. This should give you plenty of free time to meet with other participants and attend various activities throughout the conference. In assigning volunteers to specific tasks, we will do our best to match their interests to the various conference venues.

Send your application by email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> by June 1st 2017 . Your application should include:

  * A 2-page overview including: name, contact information, affiliation & educational background; conferences you have attended before and any previous experience(s) as a student volunteer; overview of your research area (max 1 page) specifying your interests and their relevance to the ECSCW 2017 conference.
  * A signed letter of support from your academic supervisor, confirming your status as a student and their endorsement of your application.

Both documents should be in PDF format. The 2 page overview should be formatted to follow the ECSCW exploratory papers template available as RTF<https://www.dropbox.com/s/1xeao7t5kwnyrn7/ECSCW%202017_EP%20template_V3.rtf?dl=0> or Ms Word<https://www.dropbox.com/s/e7nc2ebtuvq82kr/ECSCW%202017_EP%20template_V3.doc?dl=0> from https://ecscw2017.org.uk/papers-and-exploratory-papers/

DURING THE CONFERENCE
You will need to be available from Monday (August 28th) to Friday (August 1st) inclusive. It is expected that you will arrive in Sheffield by Sunday afternoon (August 27th). There will be an informal meeting of all the volunteers on Sunday evening to prepare for the conference.

During the conference your activities will include supporting the registration process, hosting and guiding people over the different venues of the conference, assisting with various presentation session, supporting exhibitors in setting-up and taking down their demos.
