Project Cornelia/ Coral is an international and interdisciplinary research project supported by the University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and the Fund for Scientific Research-Flanders (FWO-Vlaanderen) (2016/2017–2020/2021). The project focuses on the interplay between social networks and artistic developments in the creative communities and industries of 17th-century Antwerp and Brussels painting and tapestry. The research is being developed by an interdisciplinary team that interfaces art history, cultural studies, cultural economics, social network analysis and statistics.
We are hiring a MA of Computer Science or related discipline that wants to do PhD research on web interfaces for high-end network visualisations with a focus on possibilities for interactive exploration by both domain experts and a wider audience of scholars and laymen.Ideally the candidate has (1) a very good background in human computer interaction research; (2) a strong interest in and/ or familiarity with data visualisation techniques and tools, UX design, Agile development and Subjective Quality Assessment; (3) strong programming skills; (4) the ability to do independent research and to work in a team; and (5) a high level of proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
