*IEEE VIS 2018============http://ieeevis.org/ <http://ieeevis.org/>Oct
21-26 2018, Berlin, GermanyIEEE VIS 2018 is the premier forum for advances
in visualization. The event-packed week brings together researchers and
practitioners from academia, government, and industry to explore their
shared interests in tools, techniques, and technology. We invite you to
participate in IEEE Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST), IEEE
Information Visualization (InfoVis), and IEEE Scientific Visualization
(SciVis) by sharing your research, insights, experience, and enthusiasm.We
solicit Workshops, Tutorials, Doctoral Colloquium, VisInPractice
submissions, and Poster submissions for IEEE VIS 2018 in Berlin,
Germany.====================Invited Speakers
Announcement====================Keynote and capstone speakers are
confirmed.This year, keynote and capstone will address two fields that
Visualization is strongly connected with: AR/VR and learning/AI. For both
fields, distinguished experts have confirmed.Keynote: Dieter Schmalstieg
(Graz University of Technology) talks about "When Visualization Met
Augmented Reality".http://ieeevis.org/year/2018/keynote
<http://ieeevis.org/year/2018/keynote>Capstone: Joachim M. Buhmann (ETH
Zurich), talk title to be announced.http://ieeevis.org/year/2018/capstone

Hotel Registration====================Conference registration and Hotel
registration is open!You may register to IEEE VIS 2018 now via the
conference homepage ieeevis.org <http://ieeevis.org>.Note that- Early bird
deadline for conference registration is September 7, 2018.- The current
hotel room rates are guaranteed only until July 27, 2018. After this, hotel
rooms at the conference hotel are subject to
availability.http://ieeevis.org/year/2018/info/registration/conference-registration

Mini-Symposium on Visualizing Uncertainty====================Submission
deadline: June 30, 2018The VisInPractice 2018 program will include a
fast-paced, single-session mini-symposium on the practical aspects of
uncertainty visualization, which will include 10-minute lightning talks. We
now encourage submissions for these lightning talks. We ask for a concise
250-word abstract, a 150-word paragraph on what a practitioner can expect
to learn from the talk, and one descriptive image figure. Rather than
focusing on the academic sophistication of your solution, you must clearly
present the practical relevance of your approach. Successful submissions
will communicate the general impact of their approach beyond the their
specialized application area.For details, visit

Visualization in Data Science (VDS)====================Submission deadline:
July 16, 2018The rapid growth of data science has increased awareness of
visualization as a vital part of sophisticated data analysis. After three
highly successful events, the fourth Symposium on Visualization in Data
Science (VDS) will again be held at IEEE VIS 2018. VDS will bring together
domain scientists and methods researchers (including visualization,
usability and HCI, data management, statistics, machine learning, and
software engineering) to describe and expand the role of visualization in
the current practice and future directions of data science. In addition to
discussing common interests and practical issues, we hope to address open
research problems, such as creating visual interfaces that scale with data
size and complexity, and finding new ways of revealing and applying
techniques of machine learning and quantitative statistics. We solicit
contributions in the form of papers and abstracts / talks. Extended
versions of selected papers will appear in the IEEE Transactions on Big
Data.For details, visit http://www.visualdatascience.org

<[log in to unmask]>===============Doctoral
Colloquium===============Submission deadline: May 22, 2018The doctoral
colloquium is a forum for PhD Students to present their proposed
dissertation work and receive feedback from leading senior visualization
researchers. We invite contributions from the visual analytics, information
visualization, and scientific visualization student communities. The DC
call is open to all Ph.D. students — regardless of whether they are
presenting research work at the main conference or not. Preference will be
given to students who will gain most from the experience, meaning students
who are in the process of formulating their dissertation topic or who have
just formulated a dissertation topic.For details, visit

<[log in to unmask]>====================Panels
Reminder====================Submission deadline: June 15, 2018Panels
address important and/or controversial applications and issues in
visualization today. In particular, we invite topics in connection with
interesting application fields. Panels bringing together potential users of
visualization technology (e.g., practitioners and industry professionals)
and leading researchers, or panels consisting of experts in fields that
might teach us important concepts (e.g., perceptual psychology, visual
design, color theory, user-interface design) are welcome.For details, visit

Reminder====================Submission deadline: June 16, 2018The poster
program offers a timely venue to present and discuss new visualization
research through a forum that encourages graphical presentation,
demonstration and active engagement with IEEE VIS participants. Submissions
consist of a two-page summary of your work. Interactive poster sessions
will provide a forum for presenting your work and discussing new ideas with
your peers. Live demos and videos are encouraged. Posters will be displayed
throughout IEEE VIS and the summary will be published in the electronic
conference proceedings.For details, visit
