New trends on Information and Communication Technologies for Resource
Management

http://roprin.org/workshop/IJHCITP/index.html

OVERVIEW

Information and Communication Technologies for resources management in

production environments have become in key components of any enterprise

organization, offering them remarkable impacts on production operations in
terms

of both productivity and efficiency. For this reason, new ways of
management of

production environments through Information and Communication Technologies

are emerging in order to improve the quality of products and services,
optimize

production process times, and serve as support in decision-making, among
other

benefits. From this perspective, Information Technologies (IT) are playing
an

increasingly crucial role in the industry to face the challenges of an
increasingly

competitive market, which in turn is driving research into finding ever
better

technological solutions.

The emergence of the new trends on Information and Communication

Technologies and its gradual adoption by industries has favored the
generation of

increasingly efficient production systems than with the Internet of Things
(IoT),

and new Information and Communication Technologies have given rise to the
socalled

“Industry 4.0”. However, while the very nature of the Information and

Communication Technologies offers promising solutions that can potentially

transform the resource management in production environments, the adoption

and implementation of this type of systems is still hindered by issues,
which are

both technical as well interdisciplinary.

Under this context, the Information and Communication Technologies drive

improvements for the resource management in production environments of the

organizations, offering them several benefits such as: standard data models
for

Knowledge representation, ease the interoperability and integration among
systems

as well as development of knowledge-based systems, recommender systems and

decision support systems, to mention but a few.

In the production environments domain, the resource management is becoming

critical. From decision support systems for real-time order management in
production

environments, to increasing energy efficiency in such environments, since
there is an

increasing need of monitoring, planning, data analytics, knowledge
management,

integration and interoperability among systems; as well as the generation of

recommendations as alternatives to solve concurrent problems in
organizations.

Moreover, due to the huge amount of information resources which must be
managed,

it seems clear the need of researching and develop Information and
Communication

Technologies with high levels of security, trust, quality and speed. That
is why, some

efforts have been done in order to the resource management in production

environments.

Taking into account the emerging necessity of an intelligent, distributed
and selfaware

environment for resource management, this special issue looks for

collecting the main approaches for the research and development of
Information

systems in the production environments domain, as well as the principal

methods, techniques and standards for leveraging the Information and

Communication Technologies as a key-driver of the organizational growth as

part of emerging Industry 4.0.

The aim of this Special Issue is to investigate trends among innovative and
highquality

research regarding the implementation of conceptual frameworks,

strategies, techniques, methodologies, informatics platforms and models

applying new perspectives for developing Information and Communication

Systems for resource management.

Possible topics for research papers include, but are not limited to, the
following topics:

- Human resource management systems

- Intelligent data analysis

- Operations management

- ICT in project management

- ICT in human resource management applied to industry

- Recruiting/Learning management

- Web-Based and Mobile Resources Management Systems

- Data visualization and analytics

- Resource Automation processes

- Enterprise Resource Management

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Papers submitted must not have been previously published or be under
consideration for publication in other journals, though they may represent
significant extensions of prior work. All submitted papers will undergo a
rigorous peer-review process (with at least two reviewers) that will
consider programmatic relevance, scientific quality, significance,
originality, style and clarity. The acceptance process will focus on papers
that address original scientific contributions in the form of theoretical
and experimental research and

case studies applying new trends on Information and Communication
Technologies for resource management in production environments. Also, an
abstract submission is mandatory to allow editors the assignment of the
most suitable reviewers for each paper. Thus, authors willing to submit a
paper to this Special Issue must contact the Lead Guest Editor before
January 15, 2018 via email, specifying the title of the paper, the type of
submission (regular paper or work in progress), and including the paper’s
abstract.

Before submitting a paper, authors must carefully read over the journal’s
Author Guidelines. Prospective authors should send an electronic copy of
their complete manuscript via email with the subject “IJHCITP Submission”
to the Lead Guest Editor according to the following timeline:

TIMELINE

- Abstract Submission Deadline: January 15, 2018

- Manuscript Submission Deadline: February 15, 2018

- Notification of review: April 15, 2018

- Revision due: June 15, 2018

- Notification of Final Acceptance: August 15, 2018
