SIGs during the month of September:

Americas (outside the U.S.)
-> ToRCHI (Toronto) starts on 19 September the new season with a panel
discussion on HCI and Learning featuring Charles Silverman, Antonia Palmer,
and Anastasia Cheetham. We also begin with an upgraded website and a newly
expanded library.
Europe
-> SIGCHI Italy is co-organizing a symposium on Human-Computer Interaction
with mobile devices that will be held in Pisa, 18-20 September (more
information at
http://giove.cnuce.cnr.it/mobilehci02.html ). In conjunction with this
event, on September 18th there will be a SIGCHI Italy meeting to discuss
future events.
United States
-> BayCHI (San Francisco Bay Area, California) announces their September
meeting on Tuesday, September 10, 2002.

-> SanD CHI (San Diego, California): In their September meeting Kathy
Fernandes (Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center) will deliver a talk:
"Information Visualization and Situation Awareness-HCI Design in a Military
Environment" in which she will present an overview of her work in the areas
of information visualization and situation awareness and will describe some
of the
unique aspects (opportunities and challenges!) of HCI design in a military

17, 2002 Keith Instone (IBM.COM and Usableeb.com, Toledo, Ohio) will
present hat has happened so far this year in human-computer interaction,
information architecture, usability engineering and user experience? Keith
will review what he has seen and has not seen, such as how user experience
is being accepted by business, how information architects are organizing
themselves, and how diverse professional societies are beginning to work
together.
