*Special Issue on Future Internet*

Journal of Communications and Information Networks

INTRODUCTION:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the rapidly increasing amount of users and applications, current
IP-based Internet is difficult to satisfy user demands including high
speed, high efficiency, and pervasiveness. The resulting network
architecture makes the network being relatively static and rigid. According
to the statistics, the utilization rate of the current Internet is only
30%. To solve these problems, SDN, NFV and so on were proposed, which make
the network management and control capabilities increase, and improve the
efficiency of the network. That is to say, Future Internet architecture is
not a single improvement on a specific topic or goal. Instead, it has to be
an overall redesign of the whole architecture, taking all the issues
(security, mobility, performance reliability, etc.) into consideration. It
also needs to be evolvable and flexible to accommodate future changes. The
other goal of future Internet architecture research is to explore open
virtual large-scale testbeds without affecting existing services. New
architectures can be tested, validated, and improved by running on such
testbeds before they are deployed.

This special issue aims to call for review papers, newest experiments, and
novel outcome about future Internet technologies. Any interesting ideas for
Future Internet are also welcomed.
