*Dear all, Members of the CHI community can now volunteer to serve as ACs
(associate chairs) for CHI 2019 through the new PCS site
(https://new.precisionconference.com/
<https://new.precisionconference.com/>).Volunteering looks more or less
like making a submission to CHI. Go to PCS, log in to your account (since
this is the new PCS site, if you don’t already have an account, please
click on the registration link to first register yourself). After logging
in, click on the “Submissions” tab on the top, and you will see three
dropdown menu from the left to right under “Society”, “Conference”, and
“Track”, respectively. Please select “SIGCHI” as the society, “CHI 2019” as
the conference, and “CHI 2019 AC Volunteering” as the track, then click
“Go”. You will then be able to create a submission for the “CHI 2019 AC
Volunteering” venue. The only strict requirements for serving as an AC are
(1) having published at least one paper or note at CHI (note that works in
progress, posters, and workshop papers don’t fulfill this requirement), and
(2) having reviewed at least one paper or note for CHI (again, you need to
have reviewed for the papers and notes track specifically). These are the
minimal requirements; most ACs have significantly more reviewing and
authoring experience at CHI and related venues. Note that for 2019, all ACs
will be virtual, so no travel is needed to attend the PC meeting. SCs
(subcommittee chairs) will have access to all the volunteers for their
subcommittee, although SCs will not be under any pressure to invite those
volunteers and will, as always, be free to choose from previous ACs and
experienced authors. This also means that the volunteering system is not a
“requirement”. SCs will not submit reviews or accept/reject decisions
through PCS. An email will go out to all volunteers before end of May to
indicate that SCs have contacted all volunteers who have been selected to
serve on the PC.Anind and ShenPapers Chairs, CHI 2019*
