INTERNATIONAL OUTSTANDING RESEARCHER GRANT

WITH 7,4 M USD

KOC UNIVERSITY-ISTANBUL  

We offer 39 M Turkish Liras (Currently 7,4 M USD) grant for outstanding researcher working in HCI Field. The offer is design in the collaboration with Koc University- Istanbul, Arcelik Electronics and National Research Foundation of Turkey (TUBITAK). Living expense is 2 times lower than USA and Europe.

ABOUT WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work will be primarily performed at Koç University, Istanbul that is ranked 40th among the world’s young universities under 50 years old by the Times Higher Education’s university rankings. (https://www.ku.edu.tr/en/navigation/research) <https://www.ku.edu.tr/en/navigation/research)>
Koç University- Arçelik Electronics Center of Creative Industries (KUAR) offers excellent working space, technical workshops and prototyping facilities along with world-class faculty. (https://kuar.ku.edu.tr/en-kuar/ <https://kuar.ku.edu.tr/en-kuar/>)

The candidate will work closely with Arçelik Electronics which is the third largest home appliance company in EMEA, which only manufactures products with its own proprietary technology. Arçelik Electronics has 18 factories in 7 countries (Turkey, Romania, Russia, China, S.Africa, Thailand and Pakistan), and marketing & sales organisations in 33 countries and a total of 30.000 employees. SCOPE of GRANT:

There are two types of the fellowship: For early career researchers (PhD to be obtained in last 4 years) and for experienced researchers (PhD to be older than 5 years). The researcher can also come to Koc University from a company abroad.

“Outstanding researcher” criteria: (1) Being in the “Highly Cited Researchers <https://hcr.clarivate.com/>” list published by Clarivate Analytics in 2018; OR (2) Having conducted research in one of the top 100 universities according to the QS World University Ranking <https://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/employability-rankings/2019>;  OR (3) Having conducted research in a company with the highest R&D expenditures according the “Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard <http://iri.jrc.ec.europa.eu/scoreboard17.html>” published by the EC JRC.

Duration of the research action (a project proposal will be prepared): 24-36 months.

FINANCIAL DETAILS:

--Currency in Turkish Liras.  (1 USD = 5,3 TRY currently)--

For early stage researcher (ESR):  20,0000 per a month

For experienced researcher (ER):  20,0000 per a month

Initial Research Grant for ESR: up to 500,000

Initial Research Grant for ER: up to 1,000,000

Main research grant: 750,000

Family allowance: 2.250 per a month

Health Insurance for grant holder, spouse and children: 100 per a month, per person

Travel allowance for grant holder, spouse and children: Cost for flight ticket for arrival
