Call for Participation and Submissions of PechaKucha Presentations

The focus of the 2017 European Conference on Ambient Intelligence (AmI 
2017) is on the role of Ambient Intelligence “Towards a Smart and 
Human-Centered Internet of Things”. It will take place in Málaga, Spain, 
from 26-28 April 2017. AmI 2017 is an interdisciplinary forum for 
leading international researchers, designers, and practitioners that 
present and discuss new results in Ambient Intelligence.

The call for papers was well received, 21 papers were selected for 
presentation and form the basis for an exciting program including new 
formats for the exchange of ideas. There will be an additional special 
session on "Secure and Human Smart Cities" with invited presentations 
from industry, government and academia, as well as a PechaKucha Session 
(see below).

The AmI 2017 proceedings are published by Springer as Lecture Notes in 
Computer Science (LNCS 10217). A volume with extended versions of 
selected papers presented at AmI 2017 will be published by Springer in 
the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing.


AmI 2017 has also the objective to stimulate discussions and sharing 
ideas by using new formats. Therefore, we launch a call for PechaKucha 
Presentations. PechaKucha is a presentation format, where you show 20 
slides, each for a fixed time of 20 seconds. The slides advance 
automatically and you talk along to them. Thus, the time is limited to 7 
minutes. One session consist of 8 presentations followed by 30 minutes 
of discussion.
Please send a 1 page description of your proposal to

will get back to you shortly after the reception of your proposal. 
Proposals will be evaluated as they arrive..

Dr. Dr. Norbert Streitz, Scientific Director of the Smart Future 
Initiative (SFI), is the Opening Keynote Speaker with his presentation 
"Reconciling Humans and Technology:  The Role of Ambient Intelligence".

Dr. Reiner Wichert, Center for Research in Security and Privacy (CRISP), 
is the Closing Keynote Speaker with his presentation "Security and 
Privacy in Very Large Systems – Challenges and Opportunities".

AmI 2017 will take place in the Ada Byron Research Facilities of the 
University of Málaga, located in the new extension of the “Campus de 

Málaga is the capital city of the Costa del Sol and has a history of 
being one of the oldest Mediterranean seaports. Today, its international 
airport serves as the gateway to all of the other Andalusian towns. A 
high-speed train (AVE) connects Málaga to Madrid in about 2 and a half 
hours. Picasso was born in Malaga and his birthplace hosts the Museo 
Picasso Málaga, displaying more than 200 pieces of the artist. Paris’ 
Centre Pompidou has just opened its first-ever outpost in Málaga 
( Other sites include the Alcazaba de Málaga: an Old 
Moorish Castle, the Malaga Cathedral, the Castillo de Gibralfaro,  
Mercado de Atarazanas, etc.

The Social Program includes a Gala Dinner taking place at the gardens of 
the Montana Restaurant (weather permitting), a highly recommended and 
awarded gourmet restaurant. Furthermore, a private guided visit to the 
La Concepcion Botanic-Historic Gardens is planned.
