Dear all,

Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) has multiple fully-funded PhD studentship opportunities available for an October 2019 across a range of human-computer computation and design research topics. In the School of Design we also have a more open call for applications around 8 design research topics (deadline 25th January 2019). Interested applicants are advised to get in contact with John Vines ([log in to unmask]) in the first instance, after which they will be linked with potential supervisors. The eight topics areas are:

** Creative digital methods and the humanities
** Resilient and responsible fashion systems
** Design fiction and storytelling for future retail
** Design-facilitated innovation in organisations
** Using crowdsourcing to enhance product quality
** Materiality and Immersive Technologies
** Design-led approaches to stubborn social problems
** Design methods, theories and practices

Finally, studentships can be funded via the AHRC Northern Bridge Doctoral Training Partnership, which Northumbria is a partner in (deadline 9th January 2019). This funding comes with a number of benefits for applicants, including 4 years of funding (instead of 3), additional resources for training and placements, and both full-time and part-time options. This call is applicant led, where potential students propose their own PhD topic individually or in collaboration with a potential supervisor.
