On behalf of the steering committee for the ACM ISS conference series we
are inviting bids to host ACM ISS 2021 or ACM ISS 2022 from now on. Bids
will continue to be accepted until the venues are decided.

Details of the conference series can be found here:
https://iss.acm.org/index.html#tab-series

As an annual conference series starting in 2006, ACM ISS (formerly known as
ACM ITS, International Conference on Interactive Tabletops and Surfaces) is
the premier venue for research addressing the design, development and use
of new and emerging tabletop, digital surface, interactive spaces and
multi-surface technologies. Over the years ISS has been a venue for
research and applications of interactive surfaces as well as spaces, which
has been acknowledged by the incorporation of 'Space' into our conference
identity since 2016. Interactive Surfaces and Spaces increasingly pervade
our everyday life, appearing in various sizes, shapes, and application
contexts, offering a rich variety of ways to interact. ISS 2018 just took
place in Tokyo, Japan and ISS 2019 will be in Korea.

The ISS steering committee members are looking forward to your contribution
and participation at the ISS.

For the contents of the bids, please see below. We are paying special
attention to the diversity (gender, cultural, economic, etc.) both in the
organizing committee and in how the organisers plan to attract diverse
audience to ACM ISS. We also welcome bids that consider collocation with
other conferences in our “space”. It would be great if you could also
submit to bid to host another conference back to back.

Bids should [log in to unmask] After receiving bids, the ACM ISS
steering committee will review and vote on the bids. Bids will continue to
be accepted until the venues are decided. Please submit your bids not later
than March 31st 2019.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact any of the steering
committee members. Information about the ACM ISS bidding process can be
found at the International Steering Committee Web pages here:
https://iss.acm.org/index.html#tab-series

The form of the bid is fairly open but we do need the following information
in order to make an informed decision:

* The initial planned dates. ACM ISS has typically been in early November.
* Intended location for the conference
* How will the conference be organised
 * Will there be program chairs who manage the entire program or only
papers chairs who manage the papers while the conference chairs manage the
conference and program. Ideally, programme chairs should manage the main
papers track and the entire program while the conference chairs manage the
logistics of the conference. Please note, that from 2020 we will switch to
a journal modell.
              * Who will be programme chair - inc brief bio (1/2 page) and
what will they be expected to handle
              * Who will be conference chair - inc brief bio (1/2 page) and
what will they be expected to handle
              * Brief statement of chairs' experience of running conferences
              * Who will edit the proceedings (default = both programme and
conference chairs)
              * Commitment to publish the proceedings with ACM
              * A draft program for the conference
* We suggest that the first day is the workshop day, followed by three days
of the main conference. The conference itself should most likely be dual
track.
              * Which research groups will support the conference
              * Which sponsors are likely and how will you attract
sponsorship
              * Any letters of support from local entities offering help
* Diversity plan – this is very important, both in terms of the committee
and attracting participants (including developing countries)
* Any direction/theme change you would envisage for ACM ISS (default = none)
* Any new features/tracks you would like to include or other changes you
would like to make to the conference (default = none)
* Venue and costs
              * Brief description (1/2 - 1 page) of conference venue
* Also address the accessibility of the venue
              * Brief description (1/2 - 1 page) of conference city and
region/country
              * Rough idea of likely costs of (estimates only): -
registration rates (normal is to include everything inc workshops and
dinner for all delegates, bar one-day attendees) - venue hire - travel
costs and rough times from main world cities, say, London, Oslo, Frankfurt,
Paris, New York, Tokyo and Melbourne - a basic decent hotel for 5 nights
              * Bidders can include a full budget (using their own or the
ACM TMRF budget templates) which can include costs such as food, AV, room
rental, registration, USB sticks, badges, PC meeting, speakers, conference
              * Management and ACM overhead and revenue details including
registration, tutorials, workshops, sponsorship etc.

Bids are welcome from any organisation or group of organisations provided
that:
* they agree to accept the committee guidelines on publication, refereeing
and finance
* dates are agreed with the committee through negotiation after bidding
* the proposing team consists of at least one permanent faculty member

Please submit your bid as a single PDF document to [log in to unmask]

Looking forward to your bids!

Best regards,
Johannes Schöning, chair of the ACM ISS steering committee
