The Human Factors and Applied Cognition program at George Mason
University has a number of graduate research assistantships (GRAs)
available for new students beginning in Fall '00. The GRAs will be
members of the ARCH Lab (Applied Research in Cognition and Human
Factors). The graduate support is based on research grants to ARCH
Lab faculty.

Current projects include investigations of interface design on
cognitive workload, performance of commercial airline pilots,
cognitive basis for error in routine performance, situation
assessment by submarine commanders, reasoning by scientists about
their data, scientific visualization, and complex cognition.

The GRAs are primarily intended for doctoral training; however,
qualified masters students with an interest in research may apply as
well.
