   Sustainable Places 2018 (SP2018) is approaching!  

Dear esteemed colleagues,
Please find herein the final announcement leading up to SP2018, the 6th annual edition of the international conference on energy-efficient buildings and smart cities, occurring this year in Aix-Les-Bains (27th-29th June 2018).
The [ symposium agenda and draft brochure ]( ) has been published and will be sent for printing on Tuesday 19th June first thing in the morning. Any MINOR change requests may be suggested NO LATER THAN 17h00 / 5:00 PM CEST on Monday 18th June to the SP conference chair (Zia.Lennard[@]
For any delegates who have not yet [ registered ]( ) or for anyone interested in attending, registration will close on 25th June at 12:00 AM / 00h00 (midnight) CEST. Accepted contributors must send at least one co-author to the conference, and all delegates should bring a proof of payment to show at the welcome desk to receive their badges. Please be advised that any persons whose payment has not been received or who are not able to show a proof of payment at reception WILL NOT BE GRANTED ADMISSION.
A backup copy of the presentations (excluding workshops) should be sent to the delegate manager the SP conference chair (Zia.Lennard[@] no later than 25th June, but MUST also be brought on a thumb drive to the venue for on-site upload in the assigned room location prior to the start time of the particular session. Details about formatting and logos to be included in the PPT/PDF files can be found on the [ Author Instructions ]( ) page.
A [ mandatory signup form ]( ) must be completed for admission to any of the 3 site visits offered to SP2018 delegates (INES on 27th June, and Energy Pool & Schneider Electric on 29th June) for security purposes. For the INES visit, a copy of the delegate's passport must be sent to Audrey.Joly[@] no later than 25th June or will, unfortunately, be refused entry.

INES is a local co-host and co-organizer of SP2018. INES is France's center of reference in the field of solar energy. DG ENER (European Commission Directorate-General for Energy)  
DG ENER focuses on developing and implementing the EU's energy policy – secure, sustainable, and competitive energy for Europe. DG Energy is hosting the "[ Info session on smart buildings in H2020 ]( )" at SP2018. DG ENER is activities are aided by expert input from the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA), the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME), the Euratom Supply Agency (ESA), and the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER).

Energy Pool  
Energy Pool, a global leader in energy management & demand response for Industrial and commercial electricity end-users will be offering a site visit on the morning of 29th June to all interested SP2018 delegates. Energy Pool’s Distributed Energy Resources Management System (DERMS) has been operational at their network operation center since 2012. Their automation solution (DR box) is the link between end-users facilities and Energy Pool’s network operation center.

French National Commission of Public Debate (CNDP)  
On Thursday 28th June there will be a workshop open to the public and to all SP2018 delegates entitled, "[ Putting Residential Flexibility Management into Action with Pilot sites in Europe: Feedback from MAS2TERING, BEEST and DRIvE European projects - A public debate about the multi-year energy program in Europe ]( )" which has received an official label from CNDP to report on and influence the Energy Transition Law that provides for the revision of the Multiannual Energy Program (EPP) by the end of 2018.

DRIvE project (Demand Response Integration tEchnologies: unlocking the demand response potential in the distribution grid)  
DRIvE addresses H2020 call topic area 3 (Demand Response Technologies). DRIvE links together cutting-edge science in Multi-Agent Systems (MAS), forecasting and cyber security with emerging innovative SMEs making first market penetration in EU DR markets. In doing so, near market solutions are strengthened with lower TRL, higher risk functionalities that support a vision of an “internet of energy” and “collaborative energy network.”
