The second annual ACM FAT* Conference 2019 invites PhD students to apply
for the first FAT* Doctoral Consortium. The ACM FAT* 2019 Doctoral
Consortium will provide PhD students with a unique opportunity to have
substantive interaction with experienced researchers regarding their
proposed dissertation research and career objectives.
The consortium has the following objectives:
- to provide a setting for feedback on the research of participating PhD
students;
- to provide PhD students with a an opportunity to establish a
supportive community, including other PhD students working in related areas
or at a similar stage of their dissertation research; and
- to support a new generation of researchers by offering advice about
career paths.
Students will be selected who have settled on their thesis direction and
who have made contributions in this direction, but still have significant
research to complete. Applications will be reviewed according to the
following criteria: clarity and completeness of submission package, stage
of research, evidence of research progress (such as published papers and/or
technical reports), assessment of contribution to and likely benefit from
participating in the DC, and advisor’s input.
Applications are due December 7. For more details, see
