Keynote Highlight
We are proud to welcome Prof. Annalisa Bonfiglio of the University of Cagliari (DIEE) who serves as President of CRS4 – Centro Ricerche, Sviluppo, Studi Superiori in Sardegna (Center for Advanced Studies, Research and Development in Sardinia). For over 25 years, CRS4 has focused on digital technologies applied to biosciences, energy, environmental sciences, cultural heritage, human interactions, etc. More recently, these research efforts have been focused on the development of technological projects for the smart city of Cagliari, trying to take into account the complexity deriving from applying digital technologies to the typical processes of a medium-size, ancient, Italian city, located in an island just in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. The next challenge is to extend this approach to the entire island of Sardinia, trying to make a successful matching between technology and socio-economical aspects of the territory.

We are also excited to welcome and introduce engineers Niccolò Elia Sovico & Sergio Pedolazzi for their closing ceremony keynote "Crowdsourcing Sustainable Places." They believe that all of us should be able to get involved in making sustainability projects happen – so they launched ENER2CROWD, the first Italian lending crowdfunding platform for energy saving and renewable energy projects. Come hear about how this innovative startup plans to disrupt the sustainability landscape.

"Italian Day" – Smart Energy Communitie
Looking to practice your Italian? Don't miss the "Italian Day" session on Friday 7th June dedicated to Smart Energy Communities focusing on innovative technologies and smartening of the grid in Italy. The participation of over 100 local area professionals and public stakeholders is expected.

City Tour – Discover Cagliari
Discover Cagliari’s historical neighborhoods with a 2-hour free guided tour at the end of the first conference day on 5th June. Limited spaces available (60).

National Park Visit
Immediately following the event on the afternoon of 7th June, the organizing committee is making available a guided visit to the Molentargius-Saline natural park which covers over 1600 hectares and which is famous for the numerous colonies of flamingos that live there. Since the decommissioning of the salt extraction activities, the park has been redeveloped and transformed into what is now one of the richest birdlife park of Sardinia. The park is ideal for an experience in contact with nature, just five minutes away from the city center and the guided tour will allow you to discover the characteristics and peculiarities of the area.
