*NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE SMARTCOMP 2019*

*(For US-based Students ONLY)*

The *5th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing* (SMARTCOMP 2019)
to be held in Washington, DC on June 12-14, 2018 is pleased to provide
competitive travel grants for US based students to attend SMARTCOMP
2019 conference and all co-located events such as Workshops, Ph.D. Forum,
Work-in-Progress, Poster and Demo sessions.

*The funding for travel grant* *is for only full time students attending
colleges and universities in the US.* *Women and Underrepresented Minority
students are strongly encouraged to apply.* Exceptional undergraduate
students engaged in research (e.g., NSF REU students), MS research and PhD
students, and beginning post-doctoral students will be given full
consideration. Acceptance of a paper in the main conference, workshops or
associated events is not a requirement for applying. Preferences will be
given to those applications who may not be able to attend the conference
otherwise. To be eligible for NSF travel grant, US-based students (referred
to as “you”) must apply by *Tuesday, May 14, 2019 *via EasyChair (

Eligible students applying for NSF student travel grant will also be
expected to participate in the Poster Session combined with the Ph.D.
Forum. Instructions on how to submit two-page abstract for Ph.D. Forum are
available at

*How to Apply**:*

   1. Obtain a letter from your advisor/professor confirming that:

   - You are currently a full-time research student in good standing in a
      US institution and working in areas related to smart computing.
      - You will be attending IEEE SMARTCOMP 2019 conference and associated
      - The remainder of travel support will be covered by the advisor or
      otherwise (indicate how).

   1. Write a personal statement describing your research interests,
   and how you wish to benefit from SMARTCOMP 2019. Indicate your full-time
   student status (B.S./M.S./Ph.D./Postdoc), and location you will be
   traveling from.
   2. Upload the above documents along with two-page CV via EasyChair (
   ) by selecting the track “*SMARTCOMP2019: NSF Student Travel Grant
   3. Make sure to submit two-page Abstract for Poster session.

Please note that IEEE SMARTCOMP conference may not be able to reimburse all
of your travel expenses due to the limited budget. Eligible expenses for
reimbursement include advance student registration fee, hotel, and
transportation (economy airfare, bus or train). Expenses that are not
eligible for reimbursement include regular and/or on-site registration,
taxi and meals. Student travel grants are available in the form of
reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference
and receipt of all required documentation and receipts. The reimbursement
amount will be based on the number of awards made and distance traveled.
