NSF Student Travel Grant for IEEE PerCom 2020

(pending NSF approval)

We are pleased to announce additional travel grant funding, pending final approval of the National Science Foundation (NSF). All students and recent post-doctoral graduates are welcome to apply.

With the additional funding, we have extended the date to apply for all travel grants to February 5, 2020. To apply, submit all of the application materials prior to the deadline. As a reminder, to apply for the travel support, you must:

1. Obtain a letter of support from your advisor/professor stating (this letter will be solicited from your advisor via email after you submit your application):

a.    that you are currently a student in good standing working on research in areas related to pervasive computing;

b.    the institution, including country, at which you are currently enrolled;

c. that you will be attending the entire PerCom conference (including workshops, if appropriate); and

d. how any travel or attendance costs associated with attending PerCom that are not covered by the travel grant will be covered otherwise.

2. Write a short personal statement describing your research interests and how you intend to benefit from attending PerCom 2020. Please also include your student status (e.g., undergraduate, graduate, how far from graduation, etc.), whether you have a contribution in the PerCom conference or a co-located event, what your IEEE member number is, and the location from which you will travel to the conference.

3. Submit both of these, along with a two page CV via EDAS<https://edas.info/G.php?g=647> before February 5, 2020.

Please note that the PerCom conference will likely not be able to reimburse you for all of your travel expenses due to limited budget. Eligible expenses for reimbursement include conference registration, hotel, and travel (air, car, or train). Expenses that are not eligible for reimbursement include meals and local transportation (taxis, shuttles, parking, etc.).

Student travel grants are available in the form of reimbursements that are sent only after the completion of the conference and receipt of all required documentation and receipts. Recipients of travel grants will be required to check in daily at the conference as proof of attendance.

A few grants will be awarded, and the amount of each grant is anticipated to be between US$500 and US$1000 (depending on number of applications). Funding for travel grants for US-based students will be provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) (pending approval). Funding for travel grants for non-US based students and for post-doctoral graduates worldwide has been provided by the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Parallel Processing (TCPP) and the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC).
For any questions, please contact the IEEE PerCom 2020 General Chair, Christine Julien ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>). For questions specifically about the NSF funded awards, contact Sajal Das ([log in to unmask]).
