An announcement relevant to some SIGMETRICS members,
if you would be so kind as to forward it to the list.

Call for Nominations

ACM Transactions on Internet Technology (ToIT)

The term of the current Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the ACM Transactions
on Internet Technology (ToIT) is coming to an end, and the ACM Publications
Board has set up a nominating committee to assist the Board in selecting
the next EiC. Nominations, including self-nominations, are invited for
a three-year term as ToIT EiC, beginning on January 1, 2013. The EiC
appointment may be renewed at most once. This is an entirely voluntary
position, but ACM will provide appropriate administrative support.

The EiC is responsible for maintaining the highest editorial quality,
for setting technical direction of the papers published in ToIT, and for
maintaining a reasonable pipeline of articles for publication. He/she has
final say on acceptance of papers, size of the Editorial Board, and the
appointment of Associate Editors. The EiC is expected to adhere to the
commitments expressed in the policy on Rights and Responsibilities in ACM
Publishing. For more information about the role of the EiC, see ACM's
Evaluation Criteria for Editors-in-Chief.

Nominees must have strong, relevant experience in a role such as a journal
Associate Editor or Program Chair for a high-quality, peer-reviewed conference.
In order to attract high-quality papers to the journal, they must also have an
outstanding reputation as an international leader in their area of expertise.
Key qualities of the EIC are a good understanding of the research community's
needs at academic, industrial, and government laboratories, awareness of
research areas and emerging developments in Internet technology, plus the
skills and dedication to manage the editorial cycle in a timely fashion.

Nominations (with prior consent of the nominee) should be sent via email to
the Search Committee chair, who will contact the candidate for information.
Self-nominations should be sent via email to the Search Committee chair, and
include a CV and a brief statement (1-2 pages) outlining the candidate's vision
for the future development of ToIT. Candidates will be considered until the
position is filled. To receive full consideration, nominations should arrive
no later than November 1, 2012.

Please send all nominations to the Chair, Ling Liu ([log in to unmask]).

The search committee members are:
  - Ling Liu (Georgia Institute of Technology), Chair
  - Schahram Dustdar (Technical University of Vienna)
  - Carey Williamson (University of Calgary)

ACM Publications Board Liaison
  - Tamer Ozsu (University of Waterloo)
