I was contacted by the author of a new Ada textbook from a university in
Hungary, who found the
ladyada.ps
picture on the Ada-Belgium "Picture Gallery" web-page at
http://www.cs.kuleuven.ac.be/~dirk/ada-belgium/pictures.html
and wants to use it on the book cover. (The book is in Hungarian and
will be published by their university publisher.)
This picture was originally on the AJPO ftp-server in the
utility/graphics directory (*),
and a copy is still available in the PAL via
http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/languages/ada/userdocs/html/cardcat/a_graphi.html
The author is not convinced, though, that the text of the latter URL
allows the use of the picture on a book cover. On the one hand, the
page mentions:
-------
RIGHTS
Approved for public release; distribution unlimited
[...]
ABSTRACT
Icons and other Ada-oriented artwork, suitable for copying and
reproduction in papers, presentations, and other forms
[...]
RELEASE NOTICE
Approved for public release; distribution unlimited
-------
but on the other hand also:
-------
COPYRIGHT
See individual files
-------
However, the ladyada.* files do NOT contain any copyright notice.
Anyone cares to advice whether this picture can be used, or where an
answer to that question can be found?
Thanks for any help.
Dirk
PS: (*) On the new AdaIC Web-server, these graphics do not seem to be
linked into the Web-pages (yet), but the directory is there (although
with several broken links, probably just part of a physical copy of the
old AJPO directory tree). No extra information on copyrights is
available there, though.
