Call for participation: CHI 2003 Development Consortium on Mass Communication
- - - -
Sunday 6 and Monday 7 April 2003
Fort Lauderdale, Fl, USA
Submission deadline: Friday 3 January 2003

- - - -
Mass Communication is, along with e-learning and emotion, is a special area of focus for CHI 2003.

The Internet will clearly enable the transformation of publishing, broadcasting and other forms of mass interaction. In the past the players in these arenas have been technology-driven, ignoring the requirements and context of use of viewers and readers. Today we find a lack of imagination and innovation in forms of mass communication. If HCI can contribute to the future of mass communication where should it focus and how it can make a difference?

Submissions are being invited from people working in all areas of publishing and broadcasting, for information vendors and telecommunications companies, as well as commentators, analysts, and HCI practitioners. The deadline for submissions is Friday 3 January.

The CHI 2003 Development Consortium organising committee will select participants based on the relevance of their submissions to the theme and their anticipated contribution to the Consortium goals.

Participants in the Consortium may receive partial reimbursement of travel expenses and hotel accommodation.
