Dear Sir/Madam,
As you are well aware, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a tremendous impact on the life of people from around the world in almost every way. At EAI, we are taking this situation very seriously as we admire the work of medical staff and researchers who continue to make incredible personal sacrifices in tackling this global crisis.
We acknowledge and fully support the various travel and public gathering restrictions to help slow down the spread of the virus. In light of these new circumstances, we feel obligated to let our members know how we are addressing this challenge while continuing to support all of our research venues and maximizing the safety of our staff, the volunteers, and the community at large.
First of all, we are glad to say that preparations continue for all EAI conferences announced for the year 2020. The staff from our Operations Center has fully transitioned into working from home and we have taken steps to make sure that we are able to provide you with a full experience in every regard.
To ensure the safety of attendees, some of those events taking place in the upcoming weeks will be held in an interactive, live online setting, while others have been postponed to the latter half of this year. EAI offers a fully-fledged online option to all of our scheduled conferences and we are working closely with our organizing committees to provide the most suitable solution for the authors and attendees in each case. As a result, all upcoming conferences continue to accept submissions and all matters related to publication and indexing remain unchanged.
Secondly, thanks to the fully online nature of EAI's publication efforts, submission remains open in all EAI Endorsed Transactions and we continue to accept book proposals for the EAI/Springer Innovations in Communication and Computing series. Likewise, the publication of the EAI CCER and CORE proceedings series continues without change.
Additionally, all community collaboration activities that we have pioneered in the last few years remain open, active and free for the entire EAI Community. These include Community Review, EAI Recognition Index, and EAI Compass, which continue to offer unique networking, collaboration, and career-building capabilities.
And lastly, we have decided to postpone our announcement of the EAI Fellows, Distinguished Members and Senior Members for the year 2019 until a later date out of respect to those suffering from the effects of this pandemic, as well as to provide newly awarded members the undivided attention they have earned. We are grateful for your patience in this matter.
We wish everyone strong health and the best of luck in these troubled times and we hope to see you soon after we have overcome this crisis together.
Imrich Chlamtac, EAI President
