Euro-TM Cost Action (IC1001) - Transactional Memories: Foundations, Algorithms, Tools, and Applications
1st Plenary Meeting, Paris, May 19-20 2011
Call for Participation and Presentations
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The 1st Plenary meeting of the Cost Action Euro-TM will take place in Paris, at Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris-6), on May 19-20 2011 (see below for detailed address and directions).

This meeting will bring together academic and industrial research groups working on interdisciplinary facets of Transactional Memories (TMs), providing a forum open to both researchers already involved in the activities of Euro-TM and to those who are working in related areas or are simply interested in this emerging research field.
The aim of this meeting is to create the opportunity to identify synergies among the participants, which will then be pursued via the short term researchers exchange program supported by the Euro-TM Action (to be announced shortly).

The meeting will be organized into a series of thematic sessions, structured according to the Action's Working Groups, namely:
- WG1: Cross-WG Activities, Showcases
- WG2: Theoretical foundations & Algorithms
- WG3: Hardware's & Operating System's Support
- WG4: Language Integration & Tools
- WG5: Applications & Performance Evaluation
Please refer to the Euro-TM website (www.eurotm.org) for more information on the scope of each Working Group.

The meeting is expected to last two full days, and the venue has a capacity of at most 75 people. In order to define the program, we would like to invite you to indicate your intention to attend the meeting, by providing the following information:
  * Name of participant
  * Name of your institution/group
  * Working Group(s) that you would be interested in joining
  * Do you plan to give a presentation (we highly encourage you to present your work to foster collaborations)? If yes, please send us the title of your presentation, a short abstract about the content (tentative information is also welcome), and the working group session in which you would like to give your presentation.
  * Do you need financial support from the Action to attend the meeting? If yes, please see the "Administrative Information" below to see if you are eligible for support from the Action and, in the positive case, provide an indicative estimation of the transportation and accommodation costs.

Please, send an e-mail before April 4th (and preferably ASAP if you intend to apply for financial support from the Action) to:

  Dr. Paolo Romano,

Administrative Information
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This meeting is organized by the Euro-TM Cost Action, a research network that aims to enhance the quality, visibility and impact of European research in the area of TMs by establishing a network of ICT researchers and developers to address the TM theoretical underpinnings and to facilitate the development and showcase of TM platforms and applications.

COST is the acronym for "European Cooperation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research". It is an inter-governmental framework for fostering collaboration between researchers in Europe in a "bottom-up" manner. More information about COST can be found at the official COST website:http://www.cost.esf.org/

The Action has a limited budget for refunding the travel and accommodation expenses for attending the meeting, which should suffice to support the travel and accommodation costs for approximately 50 participants. Essentially Cost support only the travel, the hotels and the meals for the meeting, plus one night. However, please refer to Section 2 of the Cost's Vademecum available here:

http://www.cost.esf.org/download/COST%20Vademecum%20(Part%20B)%20%E2%80%93%20Grant%20System

for detailed information concerning the guidelines and restrictions for reimbursement and supported costs.

Note also that Euro-TM can only provide financial support to researchers whose institutions belong to one of the countries that have already formalized their intention to join this Action. An updated list of the signatories countries can be found at:

Further details on the Euro-TM Cost Action are outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding available at:
