Call for Participation: Work-in-Progress Papers
2021 IEEE World Haptics Conference
July 6-9 Virtual (previously Montreal)
https://2021.worldhaptics.org
*****************************************************************
** The submission deadline for Work-in-Progress (WIP) papers is April
23, 2021. **
** New this year, WIP papers will be published as a 1-page extended
abstract in IEEE Xplore. **

The IEEE World Haptics Conference (WHC) is the premier international
conference covering scientific findings, technological developments,
and applications in haptics. WHC 2021 will be held as a virtual
conference from July 6 to 9, 2021. The conference will use various
virtualization tools to offer an exciting interactive program,
including cross-cutting challenge sessions, technical papers in oral
and poster sessions, work-in-progress sessions, demonstrations,
industrial exhibits, workshops and tutorials, a student innovation
challenge, and other technical and social activities.

The WHC 2021 Organizing Committee solicits Work-in-Progress (WIP)
papers to document late-breaking and preliminary results. New this
year, WIP papers will be published in the form of a 1-page extended
abstract alongside technical papers in the IEEE conference proceedings
and will subsequently be available in IEEE Xplore. The organizing
committee recognizes that the pandemic has made it difficult to
conduct research involving human participants in the past year. Thus
the invitation to publish (and subsequently cite) a 1-page extended
abstract is intended to provide a forum for presenting results that
may be preliminary with respect to the usual standards for
replicability and statistical significance in experiments involving
human participants. Publishing the one-page extended abstract will not
preclude publishing the same study as a conference or journal paper
after the work is appropriately extended. Nevertheless, WIP papers
will be held to a high standard of impact and interest to our
audience.
(See details at https://2021.worldhaptics.org/wip/.)

Authors will receive feedback in the form of at least two reviews and
will be expected to revise their submission based on these reviews.
All accepted WIP papers will be invited to present at interactive
poster sessions and compete for the “most promising WIP” award.

Important Dates
April 23 – WIP papers due (11:59 p.m. PST)
May 8 – WIP acceptance notification
May 14 – Camera-ready paper submission
July 6-9 – World Haptics Conference including WIP interactive poster
session and awards

Work-in-Progress Chair
Brent Gillespie – University of Michigan, USA
