CALL FOR PROPOSALS TO HOST COMMUNITIES & TECHNOLOGIES 2023

We wish to invite the community to prepare proposals to host COMMUNITIES & TECHNOLOGIES 2023.

The biennial COMMUNITIES & TECHNOLOGIES (C&T) conference is the premier international forum for stimulating scholarly debate and disseminating research on the complex connections between communities - in their multiple forms - and information and communication technologies.

C&T is affiliated with EUSSET - The European Society for Socially-Embedded Technologies (http://www.eusset.eu/). C&T welcomes participation from researchers, designers, educators, industry, and students from the many disciplines and perspectives bearing on the interaction between community and technology, including architecture, arts, business, design, economics, education, engineering, ergonomics, informatics, information technology, geography, health, humanities, law, media and communication studies, and social sciences.

Expected duties of the C&T general chair(s) include: overseeing the overall organisation of the event; putting in place local arrangements for the conference and pre-conference events (booking rooms, catering, registration desk, etc.); assembling an organising committee (in consultation with the EUSSET steering group); liaising with the chairs of specific submission venues and with the members of the organising committee; budgeting and monitoring the financial status of the conference; helping in promoting the conference in collaboration with the other committee members and with EUSSET.

The rough timeline for C&T 2023 is as follows:

- Second week of February 2023: Papers (full and short) and workshop proposals

- First week of March 2023: Case studies (research track) due and notification of acceptance for workshop proposals

- First week of April 2023: Notification of acceptance for papers (full and short) and notification of acceptance for case studies (research track)

- Second week of April 2023: Doctoral colloquium applications and workshop descriptions due

- Third week of April 2023: Workshop papers due

- End of April 2023: Case studies (community track) and camera-ready for papers (full and short) and case studies (research track) due

- First week of May 2023: Posters/demos due and notifications of acceptance for case studies (community track), posters and demos

- Late May/Early June 2023: C&T 2023 conference

Proposals to host the C&T 2023 conference should include:

- A brief description of the proposed host organization;
- Committee plans: the general co-chair(s) must be specified and described through short biographical sketches. Additional information on suggested scientific chairs is welcome, if available;
- Description of the proposed venue: Describe the conference location and facilities, as well as availability of accommodation options, travel infrastructure, location attractions and potential social/leisure activities;
- Any other relevant issues: for example, any proposed innovations, additional information on venue/location, link to other events/activities organised by the proposed hosts, etc.

C&T 2023 will be assigned by the EUSSET Steering Group to hosts selected on the basis of:
- Their international scientific and service reputation;
- Their and the hosting institution's potential to further the C&T community and to sustain the future of the conference series;
- Previous experience in event organisation;
- Attractiveness of the venue and location.

Proposals should be sent by 28th of May 2021 to: [log in to unmask]

Notifications will be sent to proposers no later than 24th of June 2021.

Queries regarding the submission and selection process should be sent to:

On behalf of the EUSSET Steering Committee
Annika Wolff
