AIM AND SCOPE

Neurodevelopmental deficits (NDD) are characterized by specific limitations on language, attention, or motor control abilities and impairment of social skills (e.g., autism spectrum disorder, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disorder). 
Neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) result in emotional, physical, social, academic, and economic consequences for individuals, and in turn families, and society. Upon diagnosis, families report significant delays in treatment initiation and unsatisfactory levels of treatment monitoring and there is a need to establish effective easy-to-access strategies for assessing, treating, and monitoring NDD. 
Rapid progress in the area of robotics offers excellent chances for innovations for children with NDDs thanks to robots allowing the execution of repetitive tasks which can be tailored according to the needs of the individuals. Robots thus offer the opportunity to deliver automated interventions, enable therapy to be delivered over a distance, enable inclusive and collaborative environments to promote group activity and social inclusion, and personalize treatment procedures. 
It is important to develop adaptive interventions tailored to the individual to enhance the functional recovery of sensorimotor, social, or cognitive functions in children with NDDs and give children and youth with various disabilities the opportunity to participate more actively and to contribute with their own skills to the activities at home, school, and therapy. Previous studies with robots showed improvement in learning performance, engagement, communication, and social interaction. However, if the technology is not well designed, it can generate interaction barriers while using it autonomously or can cause discomfort, therefore collaboration of multiple stakeholders is crucial. 

This workshop aims to bring experts from multi-disciplinary backgrounds together to share ideas and discuss the design of such robotic solutions for the targeted focus group.
The main aim of this workshop will be to provide a venue for young researchers to share their recent advances as well as to listen and interact with senior researchers with different backgrounds working in NDDs. This workshop will focus on metrics, models, techniques, algorithms that enable robots to be effective tools in NDD care, in clinical contexts, as well as outside the hospital.

Topics of interest will include, but will not be limited to:
-	Robot-assisted therapy and training;
-	Personalized interactions and adaptive interventions with robots;
- 	Participatory design approaches in design
-	Children's and families’ involvement in the design 
-	Social interaction and inclusion through robot-mediated activities;
-	Socio-cognitive skills training;
-	Attention and engagement measures in NDDs;
-	Affective interaction and emotional understanding;
-	Imitation, perspective-taking, joint attention, and empathy;
-	Fine motor skills evaluation;
-	Robots in special education;
-	Assistive robots at home;
-	Specific field applications based on ABA or ESDM approaches.

PAPER SUBMISSION

All submissions should be according to the specifications of the ICORR 2022: http://ras.papercept.net/conferences/support/support.php

- One to Two-page submissions will be selected for an oral presentation to encourage discussion.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS AND DEMOS
------------------------------------------------------
Videos are accepted as contributions focused on showing field activities, interventions and achievements involving the use of robots for NDDs.

Video contributions according to the following specifications should be submitted by directly contacting the chairs of the workshop.
- Duration: between 3 and 10 minutes.
- Format (only one of the following should be used): mpeg, mp4, mpg
- Minimum video quality: 720p
- Minimum frame rate (fps): 24
- Codecs: Do not use special codecs in order to provide as much portability across platforms as possible.
- Audio is optional, but lack of audio should have minimal impact on the comprehension of the video.
- Structure: The video must include at the beginning a video cover with the title, authors and affiliation and the credits at the end.

Time and space for live demonstrations will also be granted to willing contributors.
