Multimedia Evaluation Benchmark (MediaEval 2023)
2nd Call for Participation
https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/

The MediaEval Multimedia Evaluation benchmark offers innovative challenges that are of interests to researchers in the areas of NLP, IR, computer vision, and multimedia. Registration is now open! (Submissions will be due in November.) This year’s tasks are:

- Musti: Multimodal Understanding of Smells in Texts and Images
https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/tasks/musti/

- NewsImages: Relating news articles and images
https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/tasks/newsimages/

- Sports Video: Fine Grained Action Classification and Position Detection in Table Tennis and Swimming Videos
https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/tasks/sportsvideo/

https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/tasks/memorability/

- Medico: Medical Multimedia Task: Transparent Tracking of Spermatozoa
https://multimediaeval.github.io/editions/2023/tasks/medico/

MediaEval places special emphasis on gaining insight into data and algorithms and moving forward the state of the art on tasks that are novel or unexpectedly challenging, due to the nature of the data or to a limited quantity of labels. The overall mission of MediaEval is to support reproducible research that makes multimedia a positive force for society.

Results are presented at the next edition of the yearly MediaEval workshop, which will take place in Amsterdam, Netherlands 1-2 February 2024, co-located with the 30th International Conference on Multimedia Modeling, MMM2024 (https://mmm2024.org/). The workshop will provide an opportunity for online participation.

Best regards,
On behalf of the MediaEval organizers,
Gabi Constantin
