This lamenting is lamentable. If the situation is terminal,
lamenting won't help. If it's not, the common advice applies:

                "Use it or lose it."

IOW:

"Build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a pathway to
your door."

There is so much opportunity in the software field, so many new
niches appearing almost continuously, e.g. linux, e-commerce,
win2k, jvm, handheld computers, internet appliances, enterprise
integration, UML, XML, application service providing, .... If
someone knows Ada is a big competitive advantage, they should be
glad it is a secret. They should stop lamenting, find a niche
to dominate with Ada, and make more money than they can dream
of. Rest assured that any successes will be often imitated.

If you say "I can't do that because the market doesn't
support my favorite language; the market doesn't support my
favorite language because there is no money in it; there is
no money in it because not enough people use my favorite
language; not enough people use my favorite language because
it is not well known and respected; lament, lament, lament
...", you are going the long way around to rationalize
something, and it may have more to do with yourself than
with your favorite language.
