Qwerty was designed to (among other things) slow down
typists. To a small extent, it has succeeded.
C was intended to improve programming. To a great
extent, it has done the opposite.
C only has a few real competitors. Qwerty has many,
but one of the dubious objections to learning Ada--
the fear that it will never catch on--is many times
multiplied for input devices. There are so many, and
even the most accepted is far less accepted than Ada.
