Stephen,
Did you have a look at the Ada components that are bundled with the
OptiMusic application? I've implemented some MIDI outputs in Ada (using
the MIDI mapper to your sound card, or just writing a MIDI file).
I also coded a simple MIDI sequencer by extending WINDEX to support
Windows routines of "winmm" library (timeSetEVent, timeKillEvent,
timeBeginPeriod, timeEndPeriod, ...).
