Here are some January 1997 statistics for the Ada Home Web site
(http://www.adahome.com). The continued increase observed in the
number of visits and visitors at the Ada Home is probably a sign
that interest in Ada is growing.

In January 1997, the Ada Home recorded 195,870 hits (i.e. file
requests). Excluding graphics from the count, 91,563 (text) pages
were requested from the Ada Home.

More than 10,000 requests were made for the main Ada Home page.

7,719 distinct hosts were served, including proxy servers for
many large organizations and ISPs. This means that there were
probably more than 8,000 distinct visitors in January 1997.
(Note: 25,525 distinct hosts have been served in the past four
months.)

1.1GB of data was transferred.

Given the widespread use of proxy servers and caches for Web surfing,
it is difficult to evaluate how many Ada Home pages have actually
been viewed (i.e. readership vs. hits). My conservative estimate
is that more than 8,000 Ada Home pages are viewed daily, i.e. roughly
200,000 pages per month. The number of recorded hits keeps increasing,
month after month.

Since March 1994, more than 2 million hits have been recorded at
the Ada Home (excluding graphics from the count).

The Ada Home is an entirely private venture, completely independent
of any government agency.

Sincerely,
  Magnus Kempe
