My feelings exactly. I have been involved with a program (on the
periphery) for many years now, and have been beaten up many times
on the language issue. Unfortunately mine is a lone voice which
was ignored. Monday, I brought up the Ada issue again at a meeting
and was told that I can tilt that windmill if I want to, otherwise
sit down and shut up. As a user of this software, I can't seem to
get my requirements recognised. All I want is:

Software that will run on a variety of platforms.
Software I can afford to maintain.

I am tired of seeing money spent on duplication of effort because
one organization says my programmers know more than yours and they
tell me your Ada software (which runs) is a piece of &*^%. Therefore
I will spend $Mega$ duplicating your system in C++ (but incompatible) and
kill your program.

This is *&^* stupid!!!

However, this is only the beginning. If you thought the language
problems of 20 years ago were bad. You should see some of the
things that "acquisition reform" is allowing to happen! We are
on the Titanic and the captain has gone to sleep!

Industry best practices? I think not!
