My project needs to make a decision about the purchase of a
tailorable Ada standards checker. I have perused recent vendor
literature and find that the only products appearing to fill the bill
are Ada-ASSURED (by GrammaTech in Ithaca, NY) and AdaMAT (by Dynamics
Research Corp. in Andover, MA). I would appreciate it if other
recommendations were brought to my attention. My memory was that
years ago there were several more code auditor products to choose
from, but I might be wrong.
The Ada-ASSURED tool is attractive because our project standards are a
careful instantiation of the SPC Ada style guide; the Ada-ASSURED
blurbs describe that it is specifically constructed to fit that guide
and the coding standard decisions one makes in instantiating it as a
project coding standard. I am contacting both firms for specifics
about the extent and ease of tailoring supported, given that most
project standards make quite a few "arbitrary" decisions (including
between requirements & optional guidelines) deemed appropriate for the
setting of that particular project. If I don't hear any better
"offers," I will probably proceed with acquiring Ada-ASSURED.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations and "testimonials" from
usage anyone can send me. I will attempt to do a concise, non-
attributed summary back to these lists if signficantly more products
are brought to my attention.
