The Quarterly Technical Report on the PAL has been released (three
copies have been sent to Steve Turczyn at Fort Monmouth, as required by
the contract, and a copy is available in the PAL as described below).
Some highlights (for the April-June 97 time frame):
. Users from 3,196 organizations extracted over 146,000
files from the PAL (the activity of the mirror sites has
already been subtracted, resulting in this 146K number)
. Over 20,000 files were updated or added to the PAL
. The 13th Walnut Creek Ada CDROM, which is a copy of most
of the PAL (1.3G of the 2.0G+ PAL), left production and
entered distribution - approximately 3,200 copies were
sold (1/2 to SIGAda for the July/August 97 issue of "Ada
Letters") in the first 5 days of distribution (9-13 June 97).
. 7 papers and magazine articles on the PAL and its associated
activities were accepted for publication/published
. 2 new mirrors were added to the PAL - one for the GRASP project
from Auburn University and one for the AdaGIDE project from
the United States Air Force Academy
. Washington University Archive is continuing to grow and support
the PAL. Another 40G bytes of disk has been ordered, placing
the total disk capacity of Washington University Archive at 110G.
There is only about 1G bytes (of the current 72G bytes of disk)
of free space left. The additional 40G should be installed soon.
The pal_2q97 directory (created when you unzip the 2q97.zip file)
contains the following files associated with the Quarterly Technical
Report on the Public Ada Library for the April to June 1997 quarter (1st
quarter of 4th contract year for the PAL).

This directory contains quarterly and annual reports on the PAL,
as required by the contract to the AJPO/DISA.
These reports include accomplishments, activity information, and
cost information.
Starting with the 4th contract year, the reports will be posted
as the files named NqYY.zip. The 4th contract year starts in the
second quarter of 1997, so the first such file is named 2q97.zip.
